What is Breathing Space?
Welcome to our café with a difference! Here at Good Shepherd we want to give people a space to step away from the busyness of everyday life, take time to breathe and consider big questions. Why are we here? Who is God?
Breathing Space is a free café that runs once a month for people who might not find it easy to connect with traditional church.
For some people the most important thing about coming to Breathing Space will be to enjoy the quiet, read the paper and perhaps reflect over the messages in a talk or video.
For others it may be the conversation, meeting new people, exploring questions and eating cake.
What does the evening look like?
6.00pm – Tea, coffee, cake and conversation: relax, get to know new people or sit and read the paper.
6.30pm – Welcome and talk or video.
6.45pm – Small group discussion about the talk or video. This is your opportunity to reflect on the messages, explore questions and discuss others’ reactions to the content.
7.15pm – Use this time as you would like. There will be more refreshments, people to chat with, prayers and readings for you to reflect on and a craft activity you can do here, then take home with you as a reminder of the message.
8.00pm – Close.
If you don’t fancy the small group discussion, there are plenty of other things for you to do, from chatting with people to a reflective craft activity or reading the paper (as well as topping up on tea and cake).
You do not need to stay for the full two hours either – think of it like a café where you can come and go as you please.
