A service of Baptism, sometimes called a Christening, is an occasion that marks the beginning of a journey with God, which lasts for the rest of our lives.
For everyone involved, it is an opportunity to thank God for what He has done for us in Christ; and where, within the context of the service, serious promises are made in good conscience, and with integrity, declaring faith from this point onwards.
You may have recently had a baby, have older children or are considering baptism for yourself; at the Good Shepherd Church, we would like to help you in thinking about this. To talk about this further please contact our Vicar. See the contact page for details.
We can also offer Thanksgiving Services for babies which involve some of the same prayers as a Baptism Service, but may be chosen when either: parents feel unsure about the promises made in baptism, or they would prefer to leave the option to be baptised for the child to make themselves later in their life.
